LisaMarie
Adams:
LisaMarie Adams, a local artist is a graduate of Mary Washington
University. She has been involved in the art and education fields
for over 25 years. She has taught at a Private School in Reston,
public schools in Fairfax and Stafford counties, and The Soundry
in Vienna. As an artist, she works in various mediums including
collage, acrylics, clay and textiles. She mostly enjoys teaching
creative classes to young students and also adults so she can share
her love of the creative process as she believes everyone is capable
of "doing art", just like breathing.
Trish
Alizade Trish has been involved with stained
glass for over 15 years. Besides art shows and fairs, her work may
be seen in several galleries, including The Gateway Gallery Coop.
Two of her pieces were published in the book Reflections of Clarke
County, Virginia. She states "What started out as a "get
out of the house hobby" has blossomed and evolved into a personal
form of expression, what a difference a class can make!
Amy
Berringer:
Ann is a local artist. She descoverd the art of Ucranian egg decorating
while watching Mr. Rogers Neighborhood with her children. The show
inspired her to order books and supplies to create these beautiful
eggs. Once she started she was hooked and has enjoied making them
for family and friends and selling them at art fairs for Christmas
and Easter.
Bobbi
Carducci: Bobbi Carducci is a freelance writer
and columnist. She wrote her first short story at the age of eight
and never stopped. Her short stories continue to win awards. Her
monthly column, Buy the Book appears in print and online by in About
Families Publications. Her
first book for young readers is scheduled for publication later
this year.
Christine
E. Coviello:
Christine Coviello has been an award-winning portrait and still-life
artist for 25+ years. She has earned the signature memberships of
the Pastel Society of America in NYC, the Maryland Pastel Society,
and the CT Pastel Society. In 1997, she was awarded membership in
the prestigious Salmagundi Art Club of NYC. She has been teaching
private art classes for 20 years and has taught professional art
instruction for the Community Arts Program, Shenandoah College and
Conservatory (now University), Lord Fairfax Community College, and
George Mason University, where she taught an independent 4 credit
study in Drawing and Painting the Portrait. Most recently, she held
classes in Oil Painting and Portrait Painting in Pastel at the Loudoun
Academy of Arts, Leesburg. Christine has studied with artists Frank
Covino, Richard Pionk and Daniel Greene and attended Paier College
of Art, Maryland Institute, College of Art and George Mason University,
where she studied mural painting and received her BA in '84. She
conducts workshops and portrait demonstrations upon request.
Kathy
Donovan: An
avid teacher, Kathy offers braided-roving-rug classes several times
a year. She spins her own yarn and
experiments with colors made from indigenous plants to use for dyeing
her own wool. Kathy's
students love to visit her home, Checkmate Farm, to see the sheep
that grew the wool that they use to make their beautiful class projects.
Mrs. Donovan is a member and current president of the Loudoun Valley
Sheep Producers Association.
Victoria
Christie Healy: has been knitting for over 30
years. She currently teaches several knitting classes for Fairfax
County at the Reston Community Center. She is a member of the Loudoun
Valley Sheep Producers Association where she is active participant
in the Wool Shop.
Jill
Evans-Kavaldjian:
Jill has a BFA in painting and printmaking, and has returned to
block printing in the past year. She has begun a series of farm-themed
prints that are also available as greeting cards, as well as a series
of seasonal block prints. These bold prints reflect Jill's other
artistic life as a designer.
Judith
Haynes Levins:
Graduated from The New England School of Art and Design in Boston,
Massachusetts, Judith mainly works as a painter, creating with watercolor
and oils. Her work can be found in private collections throughout
the country. She has participated in a variety of local shows including
The Western Loudoun Studio tour. She taught as an instructor of
drawing at The New England School of Fashion Design in Boston and
has been a freelance artist, illustrator, designer for many years.
Gina
Faber:
Gina Faber, a graduate of the University of Virginia, has extensive
experience teaching pottery classes to elementary school students.
She spent 7 years as a preschool teacher, 2 years as a library aide
for preschool, 4 years as a high school math/computer teacher, and
a few months as a Naturalist instructor at Rust Sanctuary. In her
youth, Gina taught music lessons (piano, guitar) to children and
adults for 5 years.
Tim
Farmer:
Tim Farmer is Public Relations Coordinator for the State Arboretum
of Virginia, but he describes himself as a recovering journalist.
He spent nearly 15 years as a photographer, writer, and editor at
newspapers in Virginia and Kentucky. His work has appeared in three
books as well as The Washington Post, Backpacker magazine, Loudoun
magazine, Richmond magazine, Virginia Explorer magazine, and many
others. He was a contributing editor for Canoe & Kayak magazine
for 10 years. Tim has won awards from Virginia Wildlife magazine,
the National Press Photographers Association, Virginia Press Association,
Western Kentucky University (his alma mater), and other organizations.

Sandi
Fanning:
Sandi Flanning has been a professional potter for 7 years focusing
primarily on functional stoneware. She also creates non-functional,
decorative Rakuware. Sandi has been a member of the Shenandoah Potters
Guild for 6 years and works from her studio in Clarke County.
Karen
Helble :
Karen is an avid calligrapher. She has been a member of the Washington
Calligraphers Guild, enjoying taking specialty courses in many areas.
She is also an accomplished pewtersmith, and has been selected by
Early American Life for inclusion in the list of "America's
Top 200 Traditional Craftsmen". She enjoys weaving, (cloth
and baskets), and has taught various private classes over the years.
Currently, she lives on the beautiful Blue Ridge with her wonderful
husband and three terrific children.
Catherine
Hillis:
Catherinehas painted all her life, winning numerous awards and honors
at competitive shows regionally and nationally. Mrs.
Hillis primarily paints in watercolors, including busy street scenes,
intricate florals and her favorite, the historic sites near her
home on the Blue Ridge in Northern Virginia. The hallmarks of her
work are rich color and a touch of humor. Most recently, her work
has been selected for the North Lights' publication: "Splash 12,"
and she will serve as Artist in Residence at Hot Springs National
Park during the summer of 2010. She has earned five signature memberships.

Meredith
Hilt: Meredith
Hilt is a jewelry artist specializing in wire and metal-smithing
techniques. She combines precious metal, wire and stone into wearable
pieces of artwork. A graduate of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh
(PA) she began a lenthy graphic design career before starting jewelry.
Meredith's lifelong obsession with jewelry finally led her to begin
classes in metalwork. Using a pliers, hammer or torch, Meredith
merges metals together, seeing how they can play off one another.
The end result is often embellished with artisan glass or semi-precious
stones. Using her hands and imagination she creates unique, organic

Janie
Jones: Janie
Jones has had several one-woman shows at the Martha Washington Library
in Fairfax County and has had her paintings accepted at the Art
League shows at the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria. Since moving
to Loudoun County, she has taken classes with Antonia Walker, Elaine
Nunnally, Dean Drewyer, Arleta Pech, Kurt Schwartz, and is currently
studying with Trisha Adams. She was the first artist selected to
have a one-woman show at the Senior Center in Cascades Marketplace.
She was an illustrator for the Hearth and Heritage Cookbook for
Catoctin Presbyterian Church in Waterford, Virginia. Janie's paintings
are accepted at the Loudoun Sketch Club, Burwell-Morgan Mill, Aldie
Mill, and Oatlands shows, and at the Waterford Fair Red Barn Exhibit.
Her paintings have been seen at the W.O.W Festival at Franklin Park
in Purcellville, at the Hamilton Town Office, and as part of the
Arts in Offices program. She and her works were also featured on
Channel 3's Artscape program. Janie is a past president of the Loudoun
Sketch Club and was featured in the Loudoun section of the Washington
Post. Janie Jones interest in watercolor began when she took lessons
from Caroline Grosse Gawarecki in Falls Church. She became "hooked"
on the medium, read a lot of "how to" books, and took
a course in color from Joy Luke and an outdoor painting class from
Margaret Huddy.
Mary
Kenesson:
Mary Kenesson is a member of the American Craft Council, the Frederick
Hot Glass Society, the Mid-Atlantic Society of Glass Beadmakers,
and the D.C. area Veazey Street Artisans Group. Her work is sold
through the Round Hill Arts Center, the New Dynasty Glassworks &
Gallery, and at Waterford's annual Homes Tour & Crafts Exhibit
and Christmas at the Mill events. Mary creates jewelry and wearable
fiber arts with an Asian flair in the rural colonial village of
Waterford, Virginia. Her work, known by her ma su ke"
label with a dragonfly logo, often combines beads and fibers as
well as vintage buttons from her huge collection.
Zofia
Aniela Lategano: Master
of Arts - Painting and Drawing, Montclair State University, NJ.
Experience teaching art classes for all ages including painting
with oils, acrylics, watercolors, clay and sculpture, and photography.
Zofia has been painting for over 25 years mainly with oils on canvas.
She has recently completed a series of large landscapes depicting
vast beaches, skies, clouds and dunes inspired by the beautiful
beaches on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Zofia has begun working
on a large canvas depicting the Blue Ridge Mountains in the far
distance with the beautiful countryside with farms in the foreground.
She is also working on several smaller watercolors of the working
farm where she is living. Zofias love for the arts continues
to be her focus. Her lively spirit and love of life are driving
forces behind her artworks.
Donald
Maloney:
When Donald Maloney retired from the lumber business he followed
his dream to become a woodturner. He bought a small lathe and began
turning some bowls and wine bottle stoppers. As an attendee of many
woodturning symposiums all over the US and Ireland, Don has taught
many others to turn and is active in the Capitol Area Woodturners,
and Apple Valley Woodturners. He recently helped start the Catoctin
Area Woodturners in Loudoun County, VA. Don sells his work at the
Aldie Mill Art show, Burwell Morgan Art Show, Bluemonts Art
in the Foothills art show as well as having items in the Museum
of the Shenandoah Valley in Winchester, Va. Dons work was
recently recognized in a hard cover book titled Reflections
of Clarke County Virginia featuring over 100 area artists.
Amy
Manson:
Amy Manson is a graduate of Miami University of Ohio with a degree
in Psychology and Minor in East Asian Studies. She has been a studio
potter for the past 10 years in Charlotte, NC and currently Leesburg,
VA. Amy has studied ceramics at Penland School of Craft , Odyssey
Center for Ceramic Arts, and Charlotte Clayworks. Amy enjoys teaching
both adult and children's ceramics and mixed media art classes,
specializing in advanced hand building and surface decoration techniques.
Her artwork is currently displayed in various galleries in NC, SC
and VA. Manson teaches at Round Hill Art Center, The Old Furniture
Factory and ArtSquare in Northern Virginia. She has taught previously
at The Levine Jewish Community Center Clay Studio and for Explore!
Beyond School in Charlotte, NC.
Rosalba
Negrete:
Rosalba is a talented sculptor and a member of The Gateway Gallery.
Ann
Noel: Color is very important to Ann Noel. She
uses color to create drama, tension and a sense of space. Paintings
are planned with a narrative. Something has happened or being planned,
for example, Figures in contemplation or conversation or the moment.
During the creative process, Ann will take a canvas and explore
her sense of the space and decide how to fill the space, manipulate
the space and what colors will be used to paint the subject. Her
abstracts include lush colors depicting energy, movement or place
within. Creativity for is an ongoing developing process throughout
the painting. Ann's goal is to have the viewer stop and think about
the moment, the setting, the movement, the happening etc.
Mary
Louise Ravese: Instructor
Mary Louise Ravese is founder and owner of Bella Vista Photography.
Ms. Ravese has taught a variety of photography classes from camera
fundamentals to composition. Her work is displayed in private, corporate
and university collections in over 29 states and has been exhibited
nationally. She has won numerous accolades for her work, both locally
and nationally including first place honors in the "American Landscapes"
national juried show at the Washington Gallery of Photography in
Bethesda, Maryland and Leesburg's "Mayor's Award" at the 2007 ÒFall
into the ArtsÓ festival. In addition, Mary Louise has been a guest
speaker and competition judge for several photography clubs in the
mid-Atlantic region and the annual Meadowlark Photography Expo.

Reid:
Mr. Reid is a graduate of
the University of Maryland. In addition to journalling, he enjoys
the outdoors, art, photography, history and sports.
Jean
Seelig :
Jean
seelig of Haymarket VA has studied art work in many forms since
the 1970s. After years of art classes she decided to concentrate
on Asian Brush Painting. Initially she studied under Ming Friedman
and more recently with Betzi Robinson and Marie Kaneko Shaughnessy.
In additions she has taken workshops with masters such as Henry
WU, Tesshin Sasaki, Liang Wei, Shozo Sato, Lampo Leon, and Lian
Zhen.
She has exhibited in the National Sumie Shows in 2009 and 2011.
She also shows at Millwood, Lorton Workhouse, Leesburg, Piedmont
and VGalleria. She has taught there, in Haymarket and the Philippines.
She also teaches Asian Art history on contract for Shenandoah University.
As President ot the NCAC chapter of the Sumi-e Society of America
her love of this art form grows and flourishes with others who share
the love of Asian Brush Painting.
Jerry
Spears:
Jerry Spears, a former public school teacher, quilting and knitting
teacher, has been a rug hooker for 10 years and has participated
in many workshops with well-known rug hooking artist
Kristen
Swanson:
Kristen Swanson is a Lovettsville, Virginia studio artist and educator,
Kristen Swanson, has had her hands in clay for 18 years. Kristen
has seven years of experience teaching ceramic art to children and
adults in her community through her personal studio and classroom,
White House Ceramics Studios. Kristen exhibits her unique porcelain
art locally and nationally and sells her work around the globe.
She holds degrees in Elementary Education from Virginia Tech and
a Fine Arts Degree in Ceramics from Virginia Commonwealth University.
Kellie
Tatem:
Kellie is an artist and writer living in Harpers Ferry, WV. She
recieved her undergrad in Media Art and Animation from The Art Institute
of Pittsburgh. She's never used her degree in a professional manner
but she dabbles in photography and finds that her education comes
in pretty handy despite her best attempts to render it irrelevent.
Originally from the north metro area of Atlanta, she began art school
in 2005 about the same time she decided to give up smoking (she
likes to keep her husband on his toes). She picked up knitting to
help her not strangle those around her and discovered a heretofore
unknown passion for fiber. She launched her business in 2007 and
her yarns, fibers and stitch markers are now carried in yarn shops
across the globe. She began spinning in March of 2007 and just never
stopped. She can usually be identified in the wild because she'll
have a spindle and some silk out no matter where she is.
Chip
York:
Chip York has been sewing for over 30 years, starting from childhood.
He has sewn costumes, casual day-wear, formal-wear and bridesmaid
dresses. In recent years his focus has been on neo-Victorian costuming
and custom patterns. While his primary focus has been sewing for
family and friends he has sewn on consignment for bridesmaids and
burlesque performers. Chip is also a member artist of The Gateway
Gallery.
Lisa
Zimmer-Chu: Lisa
Zimmer-Chu holds a BFA in painting from Michigan State University
and an MPS in Creative Arts Therapy from the Pratt Institute. She
interned as a Creative Arts Therapist at the Child Development Research
Center and the Mount Sinai Hospital (New York), and worked as a
Creative Arts Therapist for the Mental Health Corporation of Denver,
Colorado from 1988 to 1991. Between 1991 and 1993, Zimmer-Chu was
in Chica, Panama as an Environmental Education Extensionist with
the U.S. Peace Corps, and from 1994 to 1998, she was a Youth Development
and National Resource Specialist with the University of Wyoming
at Laramie. She teaches the twice-monthly Preschool Hands On Studio.
