Beginning to intermediate pottery hand-building students will learn basic skills to build pottery by hand. The students will use their own hand-built skills to make everyday household items and apply simple designs using sgraffito and underglaze techniques. Learn to combine the art of pottery and the love of simplicity and abstraction as you the sgraffito method to create animal and design motifs. Sgraffito is a decorative technique that involves cutting away parts of a surface layer to reveal a different colored ground. You do not need to have any artistic capability or background. We will use simple tracing techniques and apply basic drawings and basic sgraffito artistic designs.
By registering you agree to our pottery studio rules. You are restricted to the limited number of pieces based on the pottery guidelines, and all pottery work has to be done at studio.

White Taklon Glaze Wash and Round 4-Piece Brush Set ($9 on Amazon)
All first-time students must also pay a separate $40 materials fee to cover the cost of clay, glazes, and firing. Any returning or repeat students may use up clay from a previous class before paying a new materials fee.
All students must present a copy of the receipt to the instructor in order to receive clay.
